A lot of people are thinking about being independant, earning their own money and not working for a boss (anymore). They would love to start their own business, but don’t have a clue how or are afraid to start or are afraid of …. many other things.

Often it is the finances, what will “others” think of it, not the right education, I am not good enough, etc. etc.

These are all great excuses to do nothing, change nothing and keep on doing what you are doing now: Dreaming of a different future.

Nothing will change, believe me. Been there, done that.

The only way to make changes and start to see if your dream can become a reality, is by taking action. By taking a first step, than a second, than a third. And than just keep moving. Just like a todler is doing when starting to walk.

It can be difficult, sometimes it will be difficult, sometimes it feels as if you are only taking steps back. But I can almost garantee you, if you look back after 2 or 3 months, so much will be changed. Maybe not in the direction you were looking for, but there will be change.

Mistakes happen ..

Last week I did a workshop about how to find your Why. Finding your why in your business is a part of your foundation and leads to find the right goals to concentrate on. Starting with the purpose of your life, your why of life, is a big step and creates a huge path of oppurtunities.

I briefly mentioned that workshop before. It was a first time for me since many months, maybe even years. I have to look back to it. I have been postponing doing one for a long time, that’s for sure.

Why? … Good question.

More important, I did it. And boy, oh boy a lot went wrong. I did it through zoom, basically because that way the quality of the video is reasonable, and I can stream it to Facebook at the same time. During the presentation I use a Powerpoint Presentation while talking about the subject.

What can go wrong?

Let’s start with some positivity… The night before I tested my presentation and I managed to let it last a whole 15 minutes. Oeps, at least 30 minutes short, but I was able to change that.

I also figured out how to stream it to Facebook. Good.

And than, when I started with the workshop I realized that I had to turn on the screenshare before I started. Because it’s nice when I can see it, but everyone watching the video might be interested too lol.

Well that was a quick fix and 58 minutes later, I had lost my voice almost completely and I was done. Just to realize that I should have hit that record button. At least I still had it on Facebook, right?

It took a few day to find the courage to start listening to myself. Do you have that too, that your own voice sounds totally different than you hear yourself normally? I just don’t like my own voice.

With this video it was no problem though. There was no sound at all…. No clue what happenend.

Time flies, and I believe that’s totally true.

3 Months have flew by. My only excuse is that I have spend five days in Cancun. Is that even an excuse??

And before you say “Nice, enjoying the warmth and the sun”. Warmth, yes. Sun, not so much. Day 1 and 3 were spent on traveling. Day 2 till 4 were spent in a deepfreeze, as I called it. An air-conditioned room, which was so cold, that you needed a sweater to stay warm. But my kids told me not to complain, because it was minus 7 C at home. 🙂

Anyway, looking back, what ever have I been doing???

I know I have been outside, a lot. Preparing for the winter, which around here usually starts end September, beginning of October. Except this year. I took out all my vegetables from my garden, except for my kale. That stuff is still growing. We had that week of minus 7 (oh, how terrible that I missed it), but that was it. Everything is under a thick layer of straw, but I don’t know why. I probably still have to give some plants water to keep them alive and get them through the winter.

Irony though with this kale is …. some animal loves it too. Not much left for us, ha ha ha ha. Just like the cabbage I had out there. Lesson learned for next year.

On a sidenote, that week in Cancun, I have learned a lot. I have connected with a lot of people. And I am filled with energy to finish this year as I should.

Biggest small give away for me is the use of a QR code to automatically send a text message, to me. So, like to learn more about what I do … just scan the code, fill in your name or change the entire text and hit that send button ..

People generally don’t like to do to much to take action. Or they will do it “later” and forget about it. Certainly don’t want to call someone, who they are unsure off or just don’t know (who does like called calling). This way, the step to take action is so simple. And for me too …. no sign up page to create, a list to get the emails etc.

Delegating

Delegating tasks can bring in money.

Really!

Why? Because if you delegate tasks, which takes way too much time to finish and don’t really bring in money, you are wasting both. Time and money.

For years, my response to VA’s or designers or website developers or even apps …. was always, I don’t have money to spend on that. I can do it myself.

And I could do it myself. Love to create websites, create my own posts, talk to leads, figure out how to create beautiful workbooks in Canva, and many more things.

But it took me hours and sometimes days to finish things. (Add the extra time, because Miss Perfect wasn’t happy till it was perfect).

All that time was kind of wasted or the things could have done way faster, IF I had hired someone to do it for me.

All that time could also be used to help more clients, who would have brought in money.

And with a part of that money I could have paid for everything …

So have a look what you are doing!

Are there things you do, what others can do for less than your hourly rate? Let them do it than!!

Don’t be like me and waste a lot of money.

Suppliers

Supplier diversity is a strategic asset for national and international trade. By leveraging supplier diversity you can even create some extra business growth.

I see a lot of business’s depend on one supplier or even more than one supplier. As soon as these suppliers stop delivering their product, the business will have huge problems, simply because they don’t have an alternative. Or back-up.

These suppliers will also create a problem when they raise their prices, which will impact the price of the product these business’s sell.

What about the product itself of this supplier. What will happen to your product when their quality becomes less or inferior?

Having a back-up, a second and maybe even a third supplier (Plan B) is always a good strategy.

You never know what happens in the future.

And you don’t have to pull your entire supply from one supplier. But you can start building a relationship with a second supplier with the same product.

And maybe, this new supplier can provide you with a product which has the same quality, but a better price.

Leaving

After 1.5 days at the campground it’s time to go home again.

The next hour I will spend on hooking up the trailer, putting everything away inside the trailer and start driving.

I am fortunate to be able to do this, and although 1.5 day isn’t a very long time, it’s enough to clear my head, enjoy the quietness, get out of the routine for a moment.

It is a short moment where I can solely focus on myself.

Because of that, I am filled with idea’s again. Things I can do in the future. Things I can do for my present and future clients.

Do I help everybody?

The question if I help everybody is a question I can answer with a “Yes” and a “No”.

My answer initially is “Yes”. This happens when I meet with a possible client.

With the Profit Acceleration System (PAS) I can show every business owners 12 tactics to help them to improve their business and bring some extra profit in. And I am talking Profit here, not revenue.

This takes about an hour where I show them their options, which they can implement right away. I even have it on paper for them, which I will email to them.

And that is all for free!!

So, when is it a “No”?

As you can understand I can’t live from giving free advice.

So taking that system, these 12 tactics are just a beginning.

And there is way more.

Every tactic shown to you as a business owner, will give you some extra money. Some will give you small amounts, some way more.

I will show everything to you. I also can help you implement them.

And for the prices: The first one is a fixed amount to pay for and will take a few hours. The price ticket for the second one depends on how much you bring in. It will be a percentage. So basically, if I do my work right, I get myself paid.

This will all take commitment. From both sides. We are spending valuable time together to improve your business.

Not everybody is up to that. Not everybody is ready for that.

And that is okay. I understand that.

For that reason there will be a “NO” when a business owner starts complaining about the price, the time they have to invest, that they can not do it, etc.

These business owners are not ready to accept help. They are not ready to improve. They are not ready to make an even bigger sacrifice. Their mindset isn’t set right.

They are looking for excuses.

But, I won’t keep them hanging.

There is always my affordable one year course, which is way cheaper, were you can do everything when you have time and where I still help you once a week. The biggest difference is that it all happens in a group.

Do you have these days too? These days where everything goes wrong the moment you open your eyes??

For me a day like that started this morning. Or probably better last night, just before I went to bed.

As I wrote about it before, my sister-in-law and her husband are staying with us for a few weeks. Last week I took our holiday trailer to a campground at Fort Saskatchewan in Canada. A 4 hour drive up and 3 hour drive back.

Yesterday their week camping come to an end, so I had to pick them up and pull the trailer out before noon.

I changed plans and added a 2 night stay on that camp side. Not for them, but for me.

I arrived when they had left already.

Than I made a mistake. It’s a bit cold her so I had my electric heater on. And than I needed the microwave to heat something up.

Pouf, no more electricity. No more heater.

Because I am a bit pathetic with cold (why did we choose to live in Canada??), my night wasn’t perfect lol.

Anyway, this morning I got the electricity back, but than my gas tanks were empty. No hot water for my coffee, no shower, no breakfast.

Than I dropped my juice, and the final happy event was that my computer refused to work.

It took an hour to get everything cleaned up, to get some coffee and to get my computer working, but I managed.

And with the help of my coffee, I am back in business with a better mood.

Again, is this business related?

Nope …. just that even when days are bad in business, don’t give up. Good times are around the corner!!

An regular basis I hear “I want to start my own business, but I don’t have the knowledge or the talent to be a good entrepreneur”

I always have to laugh when someone says that.

First of all, knowledge is something you can find everywhere. I also can provide you with all the knowledge you need to start.

Talent …. you can have a lot of talent, or not much talent, you always have to develop talent. And that means hard work.

For example let’s take the Williams sisters, top tennis players. At the moment there is a movie about them available.

They have a lot of talent to be good at tennis, but they had to work their a$$’$ off just to get to the highest level. It isn’t that they just walked on the court, started playing a game and won. They had to work hard for it. Day in, day out.

Same is for starting entrepreneurs, but also for long time entrepreneurs. Every day there can be a different problem which has to be solved. Every day new ideas have to be worked out.

Luckily, the more successful you are, the more profit you will bring in. And with that profit you can hire someone to make life easier for you. Than can be a personal assistant. Or someone who is doing your social media. Or someone who is going to do your sales. Etc., etc., etc.

I came across this little list recently.

Not mine, but I agree with it.

Days fly by

Days fly by and before you know it all the post you made are posted.

As I probably mentioned before, I don’t live in a city or town, but just outside it. That means that I have a lot of “extra” things to do. One of them is my vegetable garden.

Beside planting everything, watering every night and watch it growing, there is still some work to do. Weed is always there, but also little critters who really enjoy a fresh plant feast.

Lately I have in just one box an animal who visits once in a while and feast on some vegetables. I just can’t figure out what kind of animal it is 😦

What I do know is that for next year I have to make a chicken wire cover to prevent this animal from coming in.

I also just figured out that my peas needs huge stakes to grow up (I really have a wall of peas now) and that I have to cover them to prevent the birds “stealing” the peas.

Every year I learn something else. Every year I try out a new vegetable.

How can this correlate with building a business?

In a lot of ways.

You sometimes have to try out different things to continue you business. You learn from the things you do now. You learn that making small changes can be a great way to keep things going and even can speed up things.

Or sometimes you fail completely. And that is not a problem. You just learn and continue.

And most of all, growing means to be patient. Results are not the things you accomplish in a very short moment.
