The development of social media over the years created great opportunities for businesses. But it can go 2 ways.
You can build your business quiet fast using social media and the internet. It also creates an opportunity to expand your business globally.
But as fast as you can build it, you can also ruin it or be ruined when you don’t pay attention. Being arrogant and thinking your business will exist forever, even when your (ex-)client leaves you a negative review, is not smart.
Always respond to negative reviews, or positive reviews for that matter. Admit you did wrong. Nobody is perfect, you can make mistakes.
Although the headquarters of this business corrected the biggest mistake, the franchise did not.
Here is the story:

“I just wanted to post our moving horror story. Hopefully it will stop someone else from a similar experience.
In short; <Company X> didn’t show up 2 days in a row and refused to refund our deposit for month, where as Absolute Moving took our booking same day and did an amazing job.
Here’s the whole story if you’re interested.
I booked them on June 13 and paid a refundable $160 deposit for a move on June 28. Initially they said they could only move me in the morning. I wasn’t able to get the elevator at my new place until the afternoon so
I called back to cancel. They immediately said they could move my appointment to the afternoon, no problem – that was the first red flag. I should have cancelled.
On June 28, noon came and went with no one showing up. I called the office at 1 pm and they told me the movers were running late at another job. They said they’d send them over as soon as they were done – no time estimate – second red flag.
After another hour and a half I called the office. No answer. I called at least 10 times between 2:30 and 3 pm. Nothing. Finally around 3:30 they called to say they were “in a bind” and could they move me at 5 pm? No! I could only book the elevator until 5 pm at the new place, so that wasn’t going to work. Then they said they had three movers injured that afternoon at a job and were trying to find people – third red flag. Which is it? Running late or injured? I asked if we could reschedule for the next morning at 9 am because I knew I couldn’t find another mover last minute and they said yes, no problem. I would be priority.
The next morning at 9 am, no movers. I called the office and they simply told me they had to cancel the move. They weren’t coming! I had everything packed, elevator at new place booked, and I had to be out by the end of the day – someone else was moving in!
I called around the city and thankfully found another company to move me that day. I had very few things to move so I’m sure that helped.
I never received a refund of my deposit, so I contacted the franchise head office in Toronto a month later to explain the situation. The next day I got a refund.
I’ve moved over 20 times, to different countries and provinces and have never had such a horrible and stressful experience. I was left stranded the day of the move and then they kept my money! Avoid this company!!”
