Years ago a cat arrived at hour house, who decided to stay at our barn. We already had a barn cat, who doesn’t like other cats, but for this one he made an exception.
After a few months we named the cat Mario, and Mario decided to rip open his entire leg. When you have animals, you know animals do these kind of things in the weekend or after hours. Probably just to test to see how far your love {and wallet} will go, I think.
So, after a night at the vet and 25 stitches later, he came home again and had to stay inside for a few weeks.
This was the moment Mario found out that laps are great places to stay on and “inside” is nice, warm and dry. As long as it doesn’t take too long.
He didn’t made it to his 6 weeks inside, after barely 5 he was already outside. But he is very capable to let you now when he thinks he wants to come in. Or out for that matter.
For years now we lock him up in a room for the night. We can’t hear him when he starts yelling, has food and water. And is save for the night. In the morning he is off. Till everybody is home again, so he can enjoy that lap again.
Sometimes he is gone for a few days. One night, 2 nights, a week or even 2 weeks. I don’t know where he goes, but he is always coming back. Hungry and tired.
He decided to go for a long stroll again a few days ago. And last night, at 2 am he decided he had to come in again. Screaming, soaking wet from the rain, he got a can of food and has slept since.
And despite the scare he gave us (no fun to wake up from a deep sleep this way) we are happy that he is back again. All the worries for this cat are gone again.
Till the next time.
Moral of this story?? None. Just felt the need to tell this π
