This week it has been around MINUS 30. Yes with capitals so everybody knows that I didn’t make a mistake. It was freaking cold. Especially when you have to be outside to turn the horses out and bring them in and get the water going. The amount of water is huge what they consume. And the heaters had some trouble to keep the water defrosted.
A couple of months ago we started to have some problems with our well. It was not a huge amount of water we had but enough to do laundry, take showers, soak in the tub once in a while, have water for the daily things and for drinks but also for the horses.
Now shower time is cut back, soaking is not possible anymore, laundry is done at the laundromat and the horses are cut off. Which means for me regular trips to do the laundry in town, do groceries and fill up a 200 liter tank with water for the horses. Nice when it is winter, not so nice when it is minus 30. Or minus 20. Or even minus 10.
Although minus 10 is now already labeled as “warm”.
